SADC Chairperson Condemns Sanctions and Advocates for Non-Interference
Marking Zimbabwe’s assumption of the Chairmanship of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), President Emmerson Mnangagwa unequivocally condemned the sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe and called for respect for regional sovereignty.
During the 44th Ordinary SADC Summit, President Mnangagwa took the stage to deliver his acceptance speech as Zimbabwe embarks on its year-long leadership of SADC, wherein he strongly denounced the illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe, describing them as a coercive tool used by detractors to undermine the country’s progress.
He advocated for a regional approach that prioritizes collective development while maintaining the principle of non-interference. Mnangagwa highlighted the need for SADC countries to support one another in their development efforts without external interference. “We have a sacred duty to honor our heroes by guarding and defending our sovereignty and right to economic self-determination,” said
