Bullard Center Launches Groundbreaking Platform for Environmental and Climate Equity
In a groundbreaking initiative, the Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice at Texas Southern University has relaunched the People of Color Environmental Groups Directory and Resource Guide. This innovative online platform is designed to foster connections among people of color environmental and climate justice organizations, environmental resources groups, researchers, scientists, technical and legal experts, and activists. The directory, originally created by renowned environmental justice scholar Dr. Robert D. Bullard more than three decades ago in 1992, with subsequent editions in 1994 and 2000, is now revived and updated for 2023, focusing on North America, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Dr. Robert D. Bullard, leading the directory project, expressed his excitement, stating, “I am really excited about re-launching the People of Color Directory after more than two decades. All of the early editions of the directory were big hits—compiled and published before the digital age took hold. We have high expectations of our ‘Call for Groups and Experts’ to build out this new directory and resource guide that’s long overdue.”
The People of Color Directory and Resource Guide addresses the urgent need for a centralized platform to unite individuals and organizations dedicated to environmental, climate, energy, and social justice issues, serving as a hub for collective action.
