Calls for Urgent Global Action to End Palestinian Crisis and Establish Independent State

On the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, H.E. Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, delivered a compelling statement expressing deep concern over the worsening crisis in Gaza and the Occupied Territories. Urging an immediate end to hostilities, Mahamat underscored the severe impact on Palestinian civilians and the blatant violation of international law.

Emphasizing the urgency of international intervention, Mahamat reiterated the African Union’s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause. He condemned Israel’s construction of illegal settlements, likening it to the apartheid system in Southern Africa. The Chairperson welcomed recent UN resolutions advocating for a humanitarian truce and cessation of hostilities.
